Coaching Programme Updated

Thorncliffe Tennis Club entered 2 teams in the Rowlinson Cup with the A team winning 7-0 against Queens Park and the B team loosing to Hallam Grange in a tough match. The A team will face Beauchief in the next round.
The Jack Pavey Tournament took place on Saturday the 10th April 2010 and was a great day for tennis. The final involved Margaret, Raye, Frazer and Spud and the eventual winners were Margaret and Spud with a close match.
Thorncliffe Tennis Club Receives £2000 in Funding!
We were successful in receiving £2000 in funding from the Sheffield Northern Community Assembly which will go towards coaching equipment and coaching in local schools.

Thorncliffe Tennis Club Features in time in time out magazine!
This month Thorncliffe Tennis Club have featured in the local time in time out magazine [time in time out website]. We have been presented by the LTA with Clubmark accreditation and Chairman Steve Hague and our resizing star Lewis Cox were there to receive the award from the LTA.
Thorncliffe Tennis Club Open Men's Singles Tournament 2009
It was a great day for a tournament and there was a good turn out for the mens singles tournament. 3rd Place went to Chris Robinson who played Ian Parson's for the runners up spot. The final saw Paul Hattersley taking on Alex Spodkiewicz (Spud) in the best of 7 games, which was won by Spud who only dropped 3 games throughout the tournament.

After another win 8 out of 8 the 1st Team are back in Division 1 after winning the league with a game to spare!!! So another trophy for Thorncliffe to pick up at the Dinner Dance. I think we maybe making a lot of noise again!!!!!!!
Thorncliffe Tennis Club Achieve LTA Tennis Clubmark
We have finally achieved LTA Tennis Clubmark after a lot of hard work and paperwork as our Chairman and others can vouch for. It will hopefully enable the club to move forward in the future and provides recognition to all the work that has already taken place at the club in recent years.

Thorncliffe Sports and Recreational Committee Formed
Throncliffe Tennis Club and Thorncliffe Bowling Club have now formed a partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding that will hopefully enable the clubs to develop in the future by attracting funding to the site. A lot of hard work is starting to pay off with thanks to both clubs.
The Ladies have finally decided to hit the big time and get promotion to Division 1. With 8 wins and 1 draw they will now be competing in the top division. Well done!!!!!
Another Wimbledon and another trip down by Thorncliffe to watch some great tennis and to have a few Pimms :p There was 7 of us this time and we all got to go on Centre Court to watch the new roof in action for the Murray match!!!!

The winners of this years Jack Pavey Tournament that took place on Sunday the 19th April 2009 was John Stanton and Sarah Newett. Spud and Sue Roberts were very unlucky runners up "No Justice". :P
Night Out Around High Green Saturday 30th May 2009
We are having a night out starting in the Packhorse around 7:30pm / 8:00pm (as soon as people can get out after the days tennis matches). Just text / phone usual party people to find out where we are on the night if you want to join the drinking session.
The new season starts this coming week with 4 Midweek Mixed Teams and 3 Men's Teams all competing. In the Midweek Mixed we have Thorncliffe B vs Thorncliffe C so any people not playing in matches get yourselves down and be entertained this Tuesday from 6pm!!!
The Jack Pavey Tournament 2009 was a great success this year with 24 people taking part on a glorious day for tennis. The Final was John Stanton and Sarah Newett, Alex Spodkiewicz (Spud) and Sue Roberts. The eventual winners were John and Sarah after a great game of tennis. The day was finished off with a BBQ and of course the odd drink.
Junior Jack Pavey Tournament starts at 10am and Adults Jack Pavey Tournament from around 1pm. All club members are welcome with a draw for partners so come down and join in.
Thorncliffe Tennis Club / Thorncliffe Bowling Club have been successful in achieving funding from Grassroots Grant Application. The funds will help pay for the recent Open Day.

We are having a night out at the dogs this coming Friday. Meeting from 7pm in the Old Crown Inn Pub near Owlerton Stadium with the first race starting at 7:30pm. Just in case you don't know what the pub looks like see the picture below.
Thorncliffe Tennis / Thorncliffe Bowls Open Day (5th April 2009)
The Thorncliffe Tennis and Thorncliffe Bowls Open Day was a great success with a great turn out of children and adults for both bowls and tennis. The weather was great and everyone enjoyed the day with both clubs attracting new members.
